New apartment project seems to spoil students

February 28th, 2008 · No Comments

Andrew Philipsborn, president of Philipsborn Co., who financed the project said that students who live in the new Pointe at the U of I apartments off Philo Road in Urbana and Florida Avenue are spoiled. It’s as if they live in a $200,000 condominium.

The property, an 8-acre, 11-building project is a place where about 160 students live. When the last 4 buildings are completed in July, the complex, which is about 1.2 miles away from the University of Illinois, will house about 500 students in 96 three-bedroom and 72 two-bedroom apartments. The property will have a swimming pool, hammock garden, hot tub, private study rooms, fitness center, computer lounge, and tanning salon.

So far, no negative comments have been heard about the project, as far as the builder and developer, Chris Creek is concerned. Everyone, he said, simply loved the place.

Surely, such a place is conducive for study, though not necessarily spoling students.
